Why Antistatic (ESD) Shoes Matter

Most occupational shoes are worn by people who stand or walk for long periods. They deserve comfortable, anatomically designed health footwear – yet one important aspect is often overlooked: electrostatic charge.

The problem: Most work and leisure shoes have plastic soles. These are insulating – meaning they cannot adequately discharge the body's electrical charge, or cannot discharge it at all.

Such charges build up constantly in everyday life, for example through friction with textiles. Even relatively low voltages of around 100 volts are enough to trigger a noticeable discharge. Without a conductive sole, this charge remains in the body.
